About Dr. Kleefeld
Dr. Kleefeld is an experienced clinician having practiced in Arcata for 33 years. Although he is a native of Humboldt County, he was actually born in Humboldt County, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Dr. Kleefeld received his pre-chiropractic training at the University of Regina in Canada. He graduated from Los Angeles College of Chiropractic in 1976 and is a diplomate of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners. Dr. Kleefeld is licensed in both Arizona and California.
Professionally, Dr. Kleefeld specializes in neuromusculoskeletal disorders of the spine. A comprehensive initial examination determines whether a patient is, or just as importantly, is not a good candidate for chiropractic treatment.
Although, x-rays are sometimes necessary, they are not routinely taken. Treatment usually begins with a very short trial of care which typically includes physical therapy modalities, gentle oftentimes effective spinal manipulation along with instruction in the usual homecare measures and progressive exercise. When a coordination of care is required for the benefit of the patient, Dr. Kleefeld regularly updates the personal or referring physician through the use of progress reports.
Dr. Kleefeld has served on the Board of Directors of the California Chiropractic Association and is a past president of California Chiropractic Association's Redwood Society. Dr. Kleefeld is a state approved Qualified Medical Examiner and is a Utilization Review consultant in workers compensation to the State of California.
Dr. Kleefeld and his wife Joy maintain a very active lifestyle filled with children and grandchildren, recreation, and whenever possible travel.
